Downtown Albany Holiday Window Decorating Contest

Post Date:12/04/2018 7:34 AM

The City of Albany Downtown Office is proud to announce the Downtown Albany Holiday Window Decorating Contest.  This will mark the first holiday centered contest for Downtown Albany.  The purpose of this joyful competition is to encourage businesses downtown to create festive displays in their windows and throughout their stores that exemplify the spirit of the season in Downtown Albany.  A winner will be announced on December 20th, 2018.  The winning business will be featured on the City of Albany and Downtown Albany websites and will be featured in a half-page advertisement in the Albany Herald that will run on December 26th, 2018.

Businesses that choose to participate must be located within the Central Business District and must have displays that are visual from the outside.  They must also post nighttime photos of their storefront on Facebook with the hashtag #downtownalbanyholidaycontest.  The Downtown Albany Facebook will share these photos and encourage patrons, customers, and visitors to like and share the image of their favorite decorated storefront. Voting for the best display will begin December 7th and end on December 19th.  In keeping with the 2018 Celebration of Lights Christmas parade, the theme for this inaugural year is: “We Need a Little Christmas”.
